This collection of papers addresses the implications of demographic change for intergenerational solidarity, thereby identifying age-specific vulnerabilities in economic, social, and individual well-being. Taken together, the papers address the following policy contexts: pensions, labour market, health care, and general welfare.
Each of the papers:
has both a retrospective and prospective content; retrospective in the sense of a state-of-the-art overview, and prospective in the sense of identifying paths for future policy- relevant research,
has a clear policy focus, meaning it looks at the ways in which policies affect behaviour and/or identifies circumstances which call for a policy response, and
is based on cross-national comparative research.
